The Cork Dragons
The Cork Dragons are a dragon boat team based in Cork, Ireland, made up primarily of breast cancer survivors and their supporters. The club promotes physical fitness, friendship, and wellbeing through the sport of dragon boating. Founded to offer a supportive community and raise awareness of life after cancer, the Cork Dragons combine teamwork, resilience, and fun — both on and off the water.
Location: We meet at Lapps Quay, River Lee, Cork (outside Tequilla Jacks).
Session frequency and season (e.g. weekly, all year round, or April-October) We are active from March to October each year. We go out on Tuesday & Thursday and occassional weekends. We hold an open day at the beginning of the season each year which is advertised on social media.
What’s provided (e.g. boat, paddles, life jackets, coaching) All equipment is provided on joining, however, all are welcome to come along and try it out before you commit.
Eligibility (e.g. breast cancer survivors, supporters, family/friends, over 18s) All are welcome. Cancer survivors and family friends/ Both men & women of all ages.
